The Case for Cancelling Cancel Culture

Hundreds of MLS alumni gathered for the inaugural 'Back to Law School' event following the 2025 James Merralls Fellowship in Law lecture, presented by Sue Chrysanthou Sc. Alum mingled, ate, drank, and joined student-guided tours of the law school alongside MLS staff, while a jazz band played.

This event was supported by the Melbourne Law School Foundation Board.

Leading defamation barrister Sue Chrysanthou's lecture title, The Case for Cancelling Cancel Culture, had captured public attention well in advance of her lecture, with event registrations reaching capacity weeks before the evening. People stood where they could, as the audience spilled throughout the top floor of the Woodward Conference Centre.

The welcome address was provided by Dean, Professor Michelle Foster; and the post-lecture Q+A moderated by barrister and Melbourne Law School Foundation board member, James Waters.
