The MLS Prize celebration brought together prize winners from the Melbourne JD, Melbourne Law Masters and Graduate Research programs over the 2018 academic year, while also providing an opportunity for them to meet and thank the sponsors and benefactors of their prizes.
MLS Dean Pip Nicholson congratulated the winners and provided a brief history of prizes at the Melbourne Law School, dating back to the 1870s.
Margaret Rose Brown, winner of the 2018 Supreme Court Prize recognising the top graduating student in the Melbourne JD, delivered the vote of thanks. She reflected on her time at MLS, thanking teaching staff, family and friends for their support and acknowledging the continuing importance of the skills learned at law school, even amidst rapid industry change.
Ann Fazakerly, Director of Advancement for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Melbourne then thanked guests and acknowledged those who had sponsored prizes.
