Professor Lusina Ho announced as inaugural Allan Myers Chair in Equity and Trusts

The Melbourne Law School is delighted to announce Professor Lusina Ho as the inaugural Allan Myers Chair in Equity and Trusts, an appointment made possible by philanthropic support acknowledging preeminent barrister, and philanthropist, Mr Allan Myers AC KC.

Professor Ho is currently the Harold Hsiao-Wo Lee Professor in Trust and Equity at the University of Hong Kong. She has taught and published widely in trusts, equity, unjust enrichment, comparative trusts (including Chinese trusts), elder and special needs law.

Professor Ho serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Equity and the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies and has consulted for the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong SAR governments on enactment and reform of trust legislation, recently persuading the Hong Kong SAR Government to establish a public trust service for individuals with special needs.

Melbourne Law School Dean Professor Michelle Foster said: “The appointment of Professor Ho, a preeminent scholar with a global reputation, will significantly enrich Melbourne Law School's research strength and expertise in equity and trusts law. It is a pleasure to welcome to Melbourne Law School an academic of Professor Ho’s calibre.”

“I look forward to expanding Melbourne Law School’s capability with a leader who will continue her pursuit of teaching and research excellence, while nurturing the next generation of scholars in equity and trusts law”.

“I know Professor Ho’s appointment is made in true reflection of Allan Myers’ eminent standing in Australian education and legal policy, and of his outstanding service to Melbourne Law School, to the University and to Australian legal society.”

In March this year, Professor Ho presented the Allen Hope Southey Memorial Lecture at Melbourne Law School, where she explored the evolving landscape of impact investing and how trust law can support enterprises with a social mission.

Professor Ho said she is looking forward to joining Melbourne Law School and is honoured to serve as the inaugural Chair of the Allan Myers Chair in Equity and Trusts.

“Having worked extensively across trusts and equity law in China and Hong Kong, I am proud to bring my experiences and expertise to a world-class law school,” said Professor Ho.

“My appointment as an inaugural Chair named in acknowledgement of Allan Myers’ contribution to commercial law is a great honour and I am excited to pursue my own contribution to Melbourne Law School.”

Professor Lusina Ho will begin her appointment in February 2027.
