CAIDE Summer Research Academy

The CAIDE Summer Research Academy will be held from 5 November 2020 - 12 February 2021 as a series of workshops, seminars and events for PhD and Early Career Researchers who are studying technology and AI with an ethical lens.

The CAIDE Summer Research Academy brings together a community of emerging, cross-disciplinary researchers who are tackling questions relating to AI and Digital Ethics.

Twenty PhDs and Early Career Researchers will come together for a series of workshops, masterclasses and seminar over the summer of 2020–21 to build connections and explore the challenges arising from AI and digital ethics. The academy aims to provide participants with a shared understanding across disciplines equipping them for their future research careers.

The Summer Research Academy will provide a forum for students to:

  • Share and receive feedback on their research
  • Participate in workshops exploring the key issues including focuses on technology, ethics and law
  • Develop practical cross-disciplinary research skills by actively collaborating with peers to develop a research opportunity.
Impact of COVID-19

The CAIDE Summer Research Academy will be conducted according to the rules and regulations that are in place at the University of Melbourne to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community. CAIDE will keep applicants and attendees up-to-date with the requirements and obligations.
