The Hub team has been awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Learning in the 2025 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) for the 2025 iteration of Access to Justice on Country.

The 2025 Access to Justice on Country cohort

The 2025 Access to Justice on Country teaching team, Professor Eddie Cubillo, Jaynaya Dwyer and Elyse Keyser, were awarded the Citation for their "leadership in the development of on-Country Indigenous justice pedagogies for Australian legal education".

The AAUT recognises outstanding educators whose work inspires students and shapes the futures of our communities and the higher education sector. The Hub's on Country subjects remain central to the its pedagogical transformation work. On Country experiences continue to be a unique and transformative experience for Melbourne Law School students.

Access to Justice on Country ran its third iteration in June 2025, where the students were taken around Larrakia Country and engaged in unique learning experiences with justice and human rights organisations, including meeting with the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, Supreme Court Justices, Larrakia Development Corporation, Northern Territory Children’s Commissioner, North Australia Aboriginal Justice Agency, Northern Land Council, and a one-day workshop with ARDS Aboriginal Corporation. Experiential components again included ceremony, cultural learning, and structured reflection.

The Hub is continuing its work on its travelling subjects and is in the process of scoping new experiences for future Melbourne Law School cohorts.
