ILJH alum and Advisory Board member named NNTC Director of Native Title

Clinton Benjamin, former MLS Student and current Hub Advisory Board member, has been promoted to Director of Native Title at the National Native Title Council (NNTC).
The NNTC is the peak body for the native title sector, with a membership comprising of Traditional Owners of Australia’s lands, waters and resources, and their representative bodies. Through the native title system, they advocate for the rights and interests of all First Nations people.
Clinton belongs to the Yawuru, Bardi and Kija people from the Kimberley region of Western Australia and is based in Rubibi (Broome). He completed his undergraduate at University of Melbourne in 2014, before commencing his Juris Doctor at the Melbourne Law School in 2015.
Clinton is passionate about ensuring Indigenous demands for self-determination are met through practical and meaningful ways for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. He has also spent years working with young people in education and youth justice, volunteering in Victoria’s juvenile justice centres in Parkville and Malmsbury.
Clinton has also been an active member of the Indigenous Law and Justice Hub’s Advisory Council since its establishment.
