Statement: Bondi attacks
The Hub wishes to endorse and share the statement by the Racial Justice Centre regarding the recent Bondi attack.
The Racial Justice Centre (RJC) is horrified by the violence at the Chanukah celebration at Bondi. These tragedies are devastating reminders of the urgent need to confront hatred and racism in all its forms.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with the victims, their families, and all those affected. Our thoughts are with the Jewish community and everyone grieving in the wake of these senseless attacks. No one should ever live in fear because of their identity, faith, or race.
Violence rooted in racism, antisemitism, and bigotry tears at the fabric of our shared humanity. May this be a moment that unites us, rather than letting racism divide us. In the selfless acts of courage in response to the attacks, and the solidarity that has been demonstrated in its aftermath, are seeds of hope and possibility amidst this horrific act of violence.
The RJC will continue our work to eliminate racism and racial injustice, tackling the root causes of division and discrimination. In this moment of grief, we call on all communities to come together, reject hate in all its forms, and work collectively toward justice, safety, and dignity for all.
