Taxation Law and Policy
The program in tax law and policy aims for excellence in research, teaching and engagement on taxation and public finance law. The program connects leading experts in the academy, private practice and government with expertise on personal and corporate income tax, the Goods and Services Tax, international tax law and state taxes with a focus on tax justice and tax reform.

Study options
Subjects in the Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Tax and Master of International Tax, related Graduate Diplomas, Specialist Certificate, as well as in the JD and undergraduate degrees.

Resources
Research is carried out by members of Tax Law and Policy with a technical, public policy and reform focus and tax faculty contribute to public debate on taxation issues. Research interests are diverse and include Australian individual and corporate income tax, comparative and international taxation and critical perspectives on tax and public finance. Much of the research work carried out by Tax Law and Policy is interdisciplinary and comparative in nature. Tax faculty supervise doctoral and Masters research across a range of tax law topics, and host visiting researchers from institutions around the world.
Tax Law and Policy at Melbourne Law School is pleased to host the Annual Tax Lecture, Australian branch meetings of the International Fiscal Association and occasional seminars and conferences on topical tax issues. Tax Law and Policy has strong international tax connections including with New York University; the University of Virginia in the USA; Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation at the Said Business School; and the Cambridge University Law School Centre for Tax Law.
