The Melbourne Centre for Commercial Law (MCCL) aims for excellence in research, teaching and engagement in all aspects of commercial law, policy and regulation. The Centre draws together leading experts in programs in the subject areas of corporate law and financial regulation; construction law and commercial arbitration; consumer law and regulation; and tax law and policy, and across the broad field of commercial law. The Centre will support an excellent MLS research community, build collaboration across the research programs, engage with professional and governmental organisations in the areas of commercial law, policy and regulation and design, deliver excellent teaching in relevant fields and connect with scholars nationally and globally.

Construction Law and Commercial Arbitration
The program in construction law and commercial arbitration seeks to develop these vital areas of law by uniting rigorous scholarship and practical experience. Members of the program engage in authoritative doctrinal and empirical research, teach a wide array of Masters-level subjects and work closely with lawyers and other professionals around the world.

Consumer Law and Policy
The Consumer Law and Policy research group is highly engaged in teaching, research and policy activities. The group's work covers the regulation of consumer transactions, advertising and consumer credit, as well as online transactions and the impact of new and emerging digital technologies. The group's work also crosses into related legal fields of health, financial services, privacy, data rights and automated decision-making. The group is strongly cross-disciplinary, and includes collaborations with researchers in medicine, economics, psychology, engineering and computer science.

Corporate Law and Financial Regulation
The program in corporate law and financial regulation builds on long-standing expertise and knowledge in the law school, recognising the central importance of corporate law, corporate governance and financial regulation nationally and internationally.

Taxation Law and Policy
The program in tax law and policy aims for excellence in research, teaching and engagement on taxation and public finance law. The program connects leading experts in the academy, private practice and government with expertise on personal and corporate income tax, the Goods and Services Tax, international tax law and state taxes with a focus on tax justice and tax reform.
