Amin Abbas
Amin Abbas was born in Kuwait in September 1970, to Palestinian parents from Qabatiya (which is near Jenin) and Jerusalem. He regularly visited Palestine as a child, and he had Jordanian citizenship as well as gaining a West Bank ID, through his father. He came to Australia in 1993, after some of his family came following the Gulf War.
Coming to Australia “was a difficult decision in many ways, because you also feel like you’re going away from where you belong. Palestine was still not far from where we were, and to be very honest with you, when you think about being stateless and having so many, like in my case, I have Australian citizenship and I have the Jordanian one, but I still feel Palestinian deep inside".
