Bobby Bryx
Bobby Bryx was born in Dachau in 1946, to Jewish parents who had survived the Holocaust. He and his parents migrated to Australia in 1949, as refugees. When he was at university he dropped out and moved to Israel, a committed Zionist. This was something he later abandoned and returned to live in Australia, becoming a social worker.
He told me, “Why should anybody be stateless? That’s ridiculous. It’s like a gap in some bureaucratic thing, somebody’s invented all this. It wasn’t that long ago where you didn’t need a passport to go anywhere, to travel and to do – nobody – you just did it.”
