Timea Partos
Timea Partos was born in Cluj, Romania, in 1980. She and her parents fled to Austria, before making their way to Australia, where other members of their family later joined them.
In her interview, she said: “I don’t know the definition exactly like, what is that definition, I know you’ve explained it to me kind of, but to me, my kind of Timea understanding of it, I do sometimes still feel stateless. Do you know what I mean? Like I still feel – not in the bureaucratic sense, but in the belonging sense, so it definitely has meaning in that regard. And the bureaucratic aspect of it fills me with dread. And I have a lot of pity and sympathy for the people who are in that situation, I wouldn’t want to be stateless again.”
Timea Partos was interviewed for the National Library of Australia oral history collection. Her interview and transcript can be access through their website.
