Gabriel Negretto is professor of Political Science at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE), in Mexico City. His research focuses on comparative constitutional politics, electoral and constitutional change, institutional design, and comparative political institutions, with an emphasis on Latin American cases. He has published numerous academic articles and book chapters on these topics in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. His most recent books are Constitution Building Processes in Latin America (International IDEA, 2018) and Making Constitutions: Presidents, Parties, and Institutional Choice in Latin America (Cambridge University Press, 2013). Professor Negretto has been consultant to the UN, International IDEA, UNDP, and various national public institutions on institutional design and constitutional and electoral reforms. He has also held visiting appointments at several universities, including the University of Notre Dame, Columbia University, Princeton University, The New School for Social Research, Universidade de Sao Pablo, and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
